This one question could change your brand forever.
First off, thank you so much for the positive feedback from the first email last week. So many people reached out with aha moments and gained clarity in their work. That is the point of me doing this. To simply add value to you. Now, not every email from me is going to be long. Sometimes a piece of advice doesn’t need much fluff to get the point across. This is one of those.
I was with a client recently and they asked me what my “desert island” piece of branding advice would be. (Not dessert island, a place my friend Jamie Gruber would live if it was a place). If I could only give someone one piece of advice to transform their brand as fast as possible, what would it be….
This got me thinking. What could I say in passing to someone that could dramatically change the trajectory of someones brand… I thought about it for awhile (unlike most who scramble to Chatgpt to think for them), played every scenario out in my head and then I realised it wasn’t a piece of advice but a question.
If you were ask yourself this one question while building your brand and making all of your content, it would align you to your north star and in line with the people who need you. That question is:
What problem do you solve?
It’s such a simple question but most of you out there have never consciously been aware of it. If you make content that solves a problem for your community and you deliver your message as a solution, it will find the right people. This question is like a domino that unlocks all the other pieces. Once pushed, everything falls into place. Look at everyone you follow on social and you’ll see their belief and tied to it a problem they solve. Hormozi solves problems for aspiring entrepreneurs for instance. The problem - people don’t know how to market, advertise, scale. Solution is Hormozi content. Everything he does is to solve your problems in that niche. You’re no different.
Your brand is the solution to a problem. When you align all your content to being that solution and serving other, you win beyond vanity metrics. By the way, entertaining people, if that’s your niche solves a problem. It makes people feel better about themselves in the world they’re in. Don’t think of this as tutorial, self help only. This is everything.
Don’t brand and create just to get likes and views. Do it to solve a problem, then your tribe will find you. The best marketing in the world is what other people say about you. Get them to know you as the guy or gal who does X.
Now, is it just do that and you win, get your gold play button from Youtube and walk off into the sunset? Of course not. There’s so much more but if you build your brand on the problem you solve, you will have a foundation that will not fail.
Until next week!

TLDR; Your brand is the solution to a problem. Use your content to solve those problems. People will tell their friends you’re cool.
