Why Social Media Feels Like a Job You Hate
Pick one platform. Master it. That’s it. No need to read on.
You don’t need to be on Instagram and TikTok and YouTube and MySpace (RIP).
God gave you limited bandwidth. Use it wisely.
When you try to be everywhere, you dilute your energy. You start pushing content from a place of obligation, not intention. You get tired and frsutrated.
The result? You look busy, but you’re not building anything that compounds.
Yes, some unicorns repurpose across ten platforms. That’s optional, not required.
My recommendation: dominate YouTube. (long form)
No other platform rewards consistency, depth, and value the way YouTube does.
It’s built for discoverability. And it has the longest shelf life of any content online.
But it’s a long game. Commit to the 10–15 year arc. That sounds insane to some and overwhelming but it’s the truth. Think you can make a few videos and be set for life? No.
I’ve got one client making around $13K/month in AdSense from YouTube alone. No TikTok. No IG. No threads. Just YouTube. Do they care they’re not dancing for views on Reels? Nope!
If you’re running a business? Stay away from short form. (to start with…)
It’s dopamine bait for ADHD brains. The audience you’re trying to reach, the ones who invest, commit, buy, don’t live in 9-second attention loops.
One of my clients ignored this advice and focused hard on YouTube Shorts.
Guess what happened? Their long-form tanked. Youtube was confused who to target and I get called in for the great clean up.
Short form attracts tourists. Long form builds trust with people ready to make life-changing decisions and want to go deeper.
You don’t need eyeballs. You need the right ones.vPick one platform. Go b**ls deep. Win.
The rest is noise and a badge you wear to think being busy is a strength. It’s not.
Combine a strong Youtube with a sexy newsletter…. now we cooking!

So, yes, that’s my advice! Is it concrete? No. It’s all relative to what you’re building. I have clients who are short form only, newsletter only, Youtube only, the whole gamut.
Btw, Newsletter isn’t a platform, it’s your world to build a real audience.
Any questions, reply to this email and I’ll do my best to get back to you.
